End of Year Awards, Cardiff
The Ely school took did well in the Grand Prix 2004 overall awards with Lanny James winning the Under 13 division and Ryan Davies coming runner up, in the 13-17 division Sean Maloney won and Cassie Lund finished third. On the night Wayne Brookes was awarded Senior student of the year and Lanny James received junior student of the year.

British Open 2004, Sheffield

The Ely school took away a team of nine competitors to this tournament and did very well winning the tournament as overall school champions due to their 7 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.

Four Nations 2004, Dublin

Wayne Brookes and Dave Lund of Ely School helped the Welsh team to win the Four Nations Cup for the first time since 1992, having a three way draw in patterns the Welsh team followed this up with good victories over Ireland and England in the sparring and tied for second place in power giving the overall victory to Wales.

Irish Open 2004, Dublin

The Ely school took away a small team of six competitors to this tournament and did well coming away with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals between them.

Grand Prix III 2004, Eastern Leisure

Eleven member of the school competed in this stage of the tournament and 18 medals were won between them.

Welsh Open 2004, Cogan

An Ely team of Eleven competitors entered the tournament and winning 18 medals between them ensured they finished first to win overall school for the tournament.

Scottish Open 2004, Glasgow
Ely entered three competitors into the tournament and came away with 3 medals having had a good time.

 

Grand Prix II 2004, Eastern Leisure
 A dozen members of the school competed and took away 17 medals between them from all divisions.

English Open 2004, Swindon
 An Ely team of seven made a good showing winning 10 medals between them.

Ten members of the Ely school competed an achieved good success with more than a dozen medals being won between them.
