Conah Prosser My name is Conah and I started Taekwon-Do in May 2001 at the age of nine which now makes this my fourth year. I train at the Ely school of Taekwon-Do under the instruction of Master Taylor VII degree, we are a small school but we have many talented students. I go to Academy training at least once a fortnight and I train with Master Taylor about four hours a week. I also train at home and I get my dad to help me with my sparring. I am currently blue belt red tips which means I only have three more gradings until my black belt. I have been to many competitions with my club, the last competition i competed in was the Grand Prix, at Eastern Leisure Centre, where I came away with a gold trophy for my patterns. At the moment I have won 3 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze medals. I have also won a gold and silver trophy and also came 2nd in the overall for the Grand Prix 2003. I was given the opportunity to go to Ireland where we had just two Junior competitors from our club and we managed o come away with 2 silver and a bronze medal. The Welsh team came away winning the Four Nations trophy which hadn't been won for twelve years by a Welsh team. This year in April we travelled to Ireland to support the Welsh team and the individual competitors in the European Championships, where the Welsh team won a bronze medal in the power testing event. also this year I travelled to Sheffield and took 2nd in the English Open Championships. We have quite a few events coming up this year and I am hoping to enter them and do well. |
Lanny James My name is Lanny and my instructor is Master Taylor VII degree. I am a I dan I started training in December 2002. I enjoy training because it is fun, it keeps me fit and I have met loads of people whilst training. I like all of Taekwon-Do but academy training is really good as you get to train with other instructors and students. I have won 17 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, also the overall junior at the Scottish Open 2004, the Grind Prix overall junior twice and at last years Christmas party I was lucky enough to be awarded Ely school junior student of the year. This year we went to the European Championships in Dublin. Wales did very well in sparring against Greece beating them, but were unlucky to lose to Russia in the next round (they went on to take gold in sparring). there were some amazing sparring in the individuals, Wales did come through to win a bronze in the power test. | |
